SHSU Online Teaching and Learning Conference

The 5th Annual SHSU Online Teaching & Learning Conference brings together faculty interested in utilizing tools, best practices, and emerging technology to improve and advance online teaching and learning. This is the can’t-miss event for anyone involved with online education and is free for Texas State University System (TSUS) faculty and staff. The conference will be held on the campus of Sam Houston State University in the Lowman Student Center (LSC) on March 4, 2016.

This year’s conference theme, “Educators & Innovators,” is designed to highlight innovation in the advancement of distance learning. From informative and inspiring sessions to helpful networking, attendees will walk away with the skills, connections, and resources needed to take an online course to the next level.

We hope to see you Friday, March 4.

Tim Clue Keynote Speaker

Tim Clue

Tim Clue is reinventing conferences one funny experience at a time. Hailing from a small town outside Chicago (and now making his home in the Windy City with his wife and daughter), Tim has brought to bear all his experiences from his years as an award-winning educator, his training at Second City and decades in stand-up comedy, and has synthesized his calling as a humorous motivational speaker and corporate entertainer.

Now, as both a presenter and one-of-a-kind team builder, Tim has spoken before such notables as former President George H.W. Bush and economist Paul Krugman, bringing “social” back into the meeting space and inspiring and connecting his audiences through laughter.

Expansion

This year’s conference will close with a special performance choreographed by faculty members David Deveau and Brittany Thetford Deveau with the Department of Dance, as well as a closing reception in the James and Nancy Gaertner Performing Arts Center (GPAC).

The performance, titled “Expansion: Putting Online in Motion,” will begin with a dance on film designed to highlight the innovation in distance learning already taking place in the seven SHSU colleges. As the video concludes, dancers will arrive to perform in person, as well as interact with a live feed of a dance instructor at a remote location.

Don’t miss this exciting performance and the opportunity to network over wine and hors d'oeuvres with your colleagues.
